You are exaggerating way too much and you are plain out wrong on other things. I'm just guessing, but you are basing most of what you say on an accumulation of what you've heard or seen people talking about in general about their cars...or SOMETHING that was exaggerated. I know FULL well of their underratings and the reasons Chevy did what they did. I hang with 2 Z28/SS clubs and have friends with a 99 and a 00 Z28. They street race and go to two different tracks weekly....there's hundreds of runs and dozens of dyno slips. YES they do put out a LOT more power than they say...it's averaged nationally at about 295-305 RWHP on DynoJets. It was a clear underrating from the factory as they put out about 335+. Now, given that, it will NOT hand a modded, let along a HEAVILY modded ZTT it's ass. Maybe some drivers you've seen of ZTT's have skewed your vision...but as a whole, it wont happen given equal drivers and transmissions (which is the only way to rate things). Also, your damn car weighs 3,400 pounds if not a bit more! We've weighed PLENTY! As for handling...oh my god, talk about the biggest apples to oranges argument! Jeez, stock for stock the Z28 loses...modded for modded with the same mods, the Z28 loses...that's just fact. As for the Lingenfelter...man, as was said, dump thousands into suspension and any car can do that...especially the ZTT. Now, don't get me wrong...I nearly bought a Z28 and love their power for the price. Fast friggen cars man...easy to mod some things but you hit a barrier of power gain without NOS or internal work quite quickly. I love the way they sound and me and my friends have had hundreds of fun hours destroying people and having a good time in them...but it's no ZTT. They know it, and I know it. And as we all know, a car is what WE make of it...it's all opinion after a certain point.
: Everyone with more car knowledge than a peanut knows that Z28s dyno 310 - 315 rwhp and are only rated at 305 crank. Thats enough to hand even a modded 3500lb 300zxTT it's ass on a plate. I have seen dozens of Z28s run 12.9x stock, never seen a 300zx come close to that. Don't tell me they don't handle either. I know a guy with a lingenfelter 383 LT1 in his 00' WS6 that smashes 355s and 911 turbos at the track with only a few thousand in suspension mods. placed 6th at One Lap of America. Don't get me wrong, I love Z32s, they just ain't in the same class.
